This web site contains information that you cannot find in any other media. It briefly describes the artists performing at the 6th edition of Clandestino Festival in Göteborg, Sweden, 13-14 June 2008. Clandestino Festival is an event focused on music that appear and is discharged in different places all around the world: singer-song writing, hip hop, submarine pop, thumb piano-electronica, industrial dancehall, dub step, tropicália, bashment, nu skool nyabinghi, ngoni blues, roots reggae, neoflamenco, broken word, soca, breaks, grime, afro beat, etc.

Most of it is not as peculiar as it sounds. Some artists are just impossible to position within existing genres since they are innovative in the field of music. This entails that it is confusing to use common designations in order to describe their styles of music, and thus are forced to come up with new names giving the reader at least a feeling of what it is all about.

This is also one reason why it is difficult for many artists to be recognized in ordinary media where focus normally is put on events that are presenting artists that are highlighted in news papers, in radio and on television. As the music industry still is in a symbiosis with the mainstream media the idols of our time has ended up in an acoustic feedback.

At the Clandestino Festival there are no idols to be found. In consequence there are no fans either. On the other hand many odd situations occurs with ordinary people that-besides an interest for globally scattered traditions of music-are open for new stories and alternative forms of music.

This is the reason we make this happen. We have been keen on trying to make the information as accessible as possible. This year it is the first time that we concentrate the Clandestino Festival to one and the same spot: an exclusive festival area around the former opera house, Storan, in the urban heart of Göteborg. More than 70 artists are arriving from cities such as Bamako, New York, Kingston, Lyon, Kinshasa, Barcelona, Tokyo, San Franscisco and Bollnäs.
