MALA RODRIGUEZ [ESP]
Querida La Mala,
For quite some time now there has been a rumor going around that you are on your way back to Clandestino again - and this time with an even bigger crew by your side. We have had a hard time to believe in this.
Because we will never forget how you three years ago got half the audience up on the stage to join you and how you above that came down to the dance floor with your hip hop that is open-heartily engaged in society. It is above all the structures of your songs that contain rhythms that create a feeling of flamenco. Or is that the connection that you find overblown by the media? Your style is more hardcore than the neo-flamenco that has been exposed in Spain during the last decade. But we have understood that your music is constantly appearing in movies. The soundtracks for Lucia y el Sexo, Yo Puta, Y tu Mamá Tambien, L’Auberge espagnole and Yo Soy la Juani. And this time with a new record in your collection: Malarisimo (2007) that continues that same soft, available conviction as Lujo Iberico (2001) och Alevosía (2004). Bienvenido! Un abrazo fuerte! Hanna Karlsson
