ECHODECK [SWE]

This year’s edition of Clandestino Festival contains a number of artist constellations using drums & different kind of string instruments. In Ecodeck’s case it is cutting edge, experimental and-judging from the amoung of shows the last years-we are dealing with an unknighted royal family of underground regions. Echodeck was founded in 2006 by Björn Klarström, Pontus Torstensson and Sara Lännerström from north of Sweden.

The trio is very much an audiovisual, technical and organic experiment. With parts of improvisation, beats, melodies, and chosen sketches. They use both acoustic/analogue and high-tech instruments. To mix the warmth from harmonica, guitar, musical box and slides with modern sounds and pictures from samplers, computers etc.

Together they build up an atmosphere and tell a fragmentary story portraied in a craftsmanlike vj set. In recent years they have been performing on Brötz, Galleri Oro, Stadbiblioteket, Sjöred, Win Win, Geiger and other semi-clandestine venues. However, our firm opinion is that this royal family belong to such a castle-like and nobel amusement existence that Storan offers.
