DIVERSE ARTISTER
Two years ago we had an inquiry from Nick Jones, Johannes Strömberg and Robert Kenndal at Pudding Production, asking if they could do a documentary on the Clandestino Festival and the cultural & political questions that steam around them. Nice vibes - why not!? Of course they could.
During four days, the Stockholm trio filmed material including over thirty festival hours. This material has now been cut together into a half-hour documentary, with different aspects, provocative and bringing out some of the artists driving forces.
For those of you who missed Fun^da^mental, Clotaire K, State of Bengal, Rani Nair, Aida Nadeem, John Hutnyk and Lez Henry, this will be more than a visual diary account of the festival (artists such as Talvin Singh, Fathy Salama, Karima Naït, Renu Hussain & MJM Propaganda are not included). For the others, some of the comments in Chatting for Change - A Film about Music, Politics and Multiculturalism (2006) trigger unforgettable memories now trapped in this documentary, where musical shows are richly combined with interviews and performances.
The film will have its world première at this year’s festival, followed by a panel discussion where some of the 2006 artists present will give their comments. Meet and hear Micropixie, Ges-e from Nasha, Alex van Heerden and many others. . .
