CLUB CLANDESTINO presents DJ WATTSRIOT (UK)

2004-12-25 Cronan, Norra Hamngatan 10

The collective that is Fun^da^mental were prime movers in the creation of global fusion: traditional cultural wordage, sounds and expression combined with contemporary beats, technology and progressive ideology.

In some quarters deemed as controversial and outspoken, FDM have tackled many issues regarding the people of the sun, the diaspora and the consequences of being here - wherever that be. The aim has always been to provoke discussion and debate, even if it hurs.

The latest album, There Shall Be Love, features qawalli and guzzal singers from Pakistan, throat singers from Siberia, and Zulu singers from South Africa. All these are present in the musical circus that is the record box of DJ WATTSRIOT.

Also present are words from Che Guevara, Subcommandante Marcos, Mumia Abu Jamal, Jello Biafra which are thrown into the mix, sending conflicting and harmonizing messages over the furious, chaotic and passionate break beats from the leftfield arena to Batacada, African drumming and of course the Clash.

Consider a FDM dj session as a turntables with Molotov coctails, true global chaos inspiring the dance floor. Those of you who visited the Clandestino Festival last summer knows what to expect.

There shall be love!
